2023 – YEAR OF THE FRENCH BRASS BANDS
2024 – TRANSITION YEAR FOR THE OPEN DE FRANCE
The 2023 edition was, without a doubt, that of the French Brass Bands. Indeed, unlike a national championship, where the French Brass compete for a title in a division, the Open d’Amboise has the particularity of being able to receive all possible ensembles from all over the world in the desired division.
French Brass Bands were represented at more than 85%!
The results were up to the mark with some very nice surprises such as the Bras Band Occitania which won for its first visit to Amboise or the Brass Band Atours de Brass crowned with a 1st prize, as well as the Brass Band junior of the Tours Conservatory.
This is a great recognition for the work done by the French Brass Bands over the years, but we hope to find a larger number of foreign Brass Bands this year.
2024 will also mark the withdrawal of Jacques Gaudet, Pascal Caraty and the original Management Committee from the organization of the Open de France. We are proud of the work accomplished during these 28 years and the progress made in France in this Brass Band world that was then almost unknown.
The Open de France will outlive us, a new team will take the reins in the year 2024 by trying to keep the same guideline that was conducted during this period: develop a musical movement around brass and percussion, promote meeting and international competition surround yourself with the best jurors to help ensembles in their progress and bring to Amboise ensembles of the highest rank at the world level. The festive aspect and outdoor performances must remain important to encourage the discovery of the Brass Band.
Happy 2024 edition to all.
The Steering Committee.
See you at the beginning of June 2024 – friday 7th – saturday 8th and sunday 9th of June.
